There are not many face creams out there that people can say they use all year round. During the warmer months, some people usually switch to a lighter moisturiser. And when the colder months arrive, they opt for a rich moisturiser that can withstand the harsh weather conditions.
I love the summer months. It’s because of the fact you get the chance to wear lighter clothes that your heart can content with. Also, there’s always events happening everywhere such as the outdoor play or festivals up and down the country. One thing that I don’t enjoy about the summer months is dealing with the darkening of my face. I have never had a satisfactory result when I have tried to use sunscreen with high SPF (Sun Protection Factor). As many dark skin women out there would testify to, it leaves a white film coating on my face which I don’t like.
An Accidental Discovery!
I was out and about having a nose around in Boots about 3 years ago, when my eyes caught the Eucerin range. On closer inspection, I came across the Eucerin Even Brighter Day Cream in SPF 30. For the past few years that I have used this product, I’m happy with the results that I have seen on my face.
- It works by helping to reduce the amount of melanin production at its source.
- I no longer experience darkening of the face as before but rather it helps in maintaining my skin colour. My skin is now brighter and clearer.
- It’s not a bleaching cream.
- It’s on the oily side, so a little goes a long way.
- If you wear makeup, it would make a good base for your foundation.
Before, I would have used a different face cream for the spring /summer and one for the winter months. But now I use Eucerin Even Brighter Day Cream in SPF 30 all year round. The only difference is during winter months, I may add an additional product to my moisturiser to help combat dryness.
It takes time and patience – but YES it DOES work. You need to be careful not to get the cream into your eyes as it hurts a little bit.
The price for the face cream is £22.50 from Boots. It is also worth checking when they have special offers on so that you can stock up.
So over to you, what type of face cream do you use to help you combat the effect of the sun on dark skin during summer and/or all year round? Do share your tip and ideas or other skin brands that you have used in the comment box.
